“Vegetative state” man says he was alert but mute for 23 years

Imagine this. You are lying in a hospital bed, in a coma, apparently dead to what is happening around you. But you experience it all the same, hear what is being said about and to you, and try in vain to communicate with your loved ones and the world outside.

TAKE IT AWAY (The Used song)

The Used is an American alternative rock band from Orem, Utah. Their sound has been classified under many sub-genres of rock. The band has achieved both Gold and Platinum statuses in more than six countries worldwide.

TAKING IT AWAY

In 2004 lead singer Bert McCracken’s ex-girlfriend, who was pregnant with his child, died of a drug overdose. Their second studio album was thus named In Love and Death, released as a reference to the tragedy Bert dealt with during the recording.

“I’m lying to myself and this dagger’s my excuse”

The album received generally favorable reviews and spawned this single which earned them their first Video Award nomination. They are currently on tour across Canada (with Three Days Grace) and will soon be in Japan and Australia.

PROMISE KEEPER | “reflections”

It’s the sick people who make me do these things.

Granted, Grampa was not a sick one. I feel bad about killing him. That changed everything. I wish Crystal would hold my feet to the fire sometimes.

Dr. Magnus Pyke | Visionary?

Magnus Alfred Pyke (Paddington, London, 29 December 1908 – 19 October 1992)

Dr. Pyke was a British scientist and media figure, who, although apparently quite eccentric and playing up to the mad scientist stereotype, succeeded in explaining science to a lay audience. He was known for his enthusiastic way of waving his arms around as he spoke.

PROMISE KEEPER | “mommy”

It’s comfy under the tree. The presents make good pillows. I lay there and sip cognac. Crotches walk by. Some stop and talk about me. Sharon’s face is looking at me. “C’mon big boy.” She is pulling me up.
