A far more intesting story to do – there is no evidence daylite savings actually saves energy.

No, but what it does do is make sure that Halloween has more daylight at night, making parents more likely to let the kids go trick-or-treating, and for longer. (Kids are more safe during daylight hours on halloween)Go National Confectioners Association (candy lobby).

In fact a recent study (2006, I believe) concluded that Daylight Savings Time increased energy usage between 1-4%. That aggregates out to billions of dollars nationwide.

In a recent study of my household, we determined that DST is far superior to standard time, so screw energy savings.

It’s nice to come home after work and actually be able to go for a walk without it being pitch black.

OK, I must have missed something. This change was approved back in 2005, and went into affect last year. I recall doing all kind of patches and updates to take care of it.My question: what has changed since then that requires more patches and updates??

Poorly- or un-supported software that hasn’t been properly updated yet.Speaking of poorly-supported software, I wonder if my work’s copy of Oracle Calendar Server has been updated this time. Or when they’ll have a PDA sync client that works with Activesync 4.x. Or…

I’d prefer we just go on DST year-around.

Bad choice. Daylight Savings Time is, for the most part, badly out of sync with local solar time. It would be better to go on Standard Time the year ’round. If you want to get up an hour or two earlier to take care of your business, that’s up to you. Get rid of DST and stop messin’ with my clocks, dammit!!!

Thank you. I really don’t see why we need DST, or time zones, or any particular need to correlate human time to the solar position anymore. The few people who need to time their work around the sun can figure out how to dial their alarm clock to a different time, or get a rooster.I’d be perfectly happy if we all used UTC time– then if I said a time to someone at the other side of the world, there’d be no issue as to wether it’s my time, or hers.

My house was a participant in that study as well, with the same results.

For those of us who have to work past 6:00, it is great to still have some light left in the day.

I am wondering if the Government are just thinking of them self regarding working earlier and trying to say money. Have they thought of Women with new born how they fuck up there schedule for feeding, or toddler’s getting used to one time to go to sleep or waking up to changing there time schedule. I conquer with everybody that say we don’t need to change the time.

I see my Series1 Tivo still hasn’t updated, all the guide listings are an hour off, but it seems to just be a display issue, in that the shows are actually being recorded at the correct time.

Thank God I live in Arizona. We don’t participate in this whole stupid business. After moving to Phoenix over a decade ago and no longer having to put up with it, I really feel that it’d be better if the rest of the country would drop it as well.
