You saying that all you see is someone trying to kill your family sounds a lot to me like people whose son was killed when he was attacking police or something and they blame the police. Love thy enemy is only a radical statement when you’re not the aggressor. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t wish any harm on your family and would in fact like them and every other person stationed there come back safe, but realistically it’s not like a bunch of savages are pointlessly trying to murder your loved ones and its disingenuous to act like it is. Millions of Iraqis have lost someone they cared about to this conflict, and unlike your family they didn’t have a lot of choice in the matter.
